Chapter 66

Finally the day I had been waiting for arrived. My Wedding day to Bev. We chose to have the Wedding at an old home that had been remodeled specifically as a place to hold Weddings and even had the option for you to rent it for your Honeymoon. I booked us for the Wedding and for a short Honeymoon stay.

Bess looked cute dressed in her little flower girl dress that day. I was kind of glad Bess was old enough to be able to enjoy the wedding. I remembered how much it had meant to me and my sisters when we got to go to the vow renewal ceremony our parents had years ago. Bev and I wouldn’t have to tell Bess about it someday, she would be there to witness it for herself. This also meant she got to be our flower girl, a honor she took very seriously.

I may have or may not have interogated Cloud Dancing before the ceremony to make sure had the rings. He did, thankfully. He also kept me calm. I wasn’t afraid of marrying Bev, but I was worried I’d mess up my vows or something like that. I didn’t want to do something to ruin our special day.

But as soon as I saw Bev walking down the pathway, my nerves disappeared. She looked as beautiful as I had ever seen her. I think I lost my breath for a moment due to her beauty. The only things missing were my parents and Greta there, but I felt they were there in spirit.

Once Bev was to the alter and the Preacher started us on our path to marriage, I looked over to check on Bess. Bess was so happy to be seeing us get married, so was everyone else.

Soon it was time for our rings and our vows, which were in the form of a poem we each would read parts of. And yes, we were allowed cheat sheets.

“Love is a great thing, yea, a great and thorough good. By itself it makes that is heavy light; and it bears evenly all that is uneven.

It carries a burden which is no burden; it will not be kept back by anything low and mean; it desires to be free from all wordly affections, and not to be entangled by any outward prosperity, or by any adversity subdued.”

“Love feels no burden, thinks nothing of trouble, attempts what is above its strength, pleads no excuse of impossibility. It is therefore able to undertake all things, and it completes many things, and warrants them to take effect, where he who does not love would faint and lie down.

Though weary, it is not tired; though pressed it is not straitened; though alarmed, it is not confounded; but as a living flame it forces itself upwards and securely passes through all.

Love is active and sincere, courageous, patient, faithful, prudent and manly.”

After we finished reading the poem, the Preacher announced us as husband and wife and told me to kiss my bride. I pulled Bev to me and gladly did so as our guests clapped and some even cried.

Bev and I stood by the altar, staring at one another for the longest time as our guests moved on to dance and eat. I couldn’t believe I was finally married to her, but I couldn’t be happier about it.

Apparently our wedding kiss inspired Gabby and Cloud Dancing. I thought I was going to have to tell them to get a room so they didn’t traumatize the kids at the Wedding.

We soon shared our first dance as husband and wife. I felt like I was living in a dream, but Bev kept reassuring me that we were both living in reality.

Everyone else got in on the dancing as well. I was glad to see everyone having such a good time.

The reception went on for hours, filled with cake, dancing and laughter. People slowly started to leave after gifts were opened and soon it was just us, Bess, Gabby and Cloud Dancing left.

Gabby gave Bev a hug, telling her welcome to the family and that she’s a Gonzalo now. That meant she had to develop an ego. She was joking about that of course, only the males in the family have egos. I can freely admit to that one.

Bev hugged Bess goodnight, as I polished off some turkey. Gabby and Cloud Dancing would be taking Bess home so the new Mrs. Gonzalo and I could enjoy a night alone for our honeymoon.

After Gabby and Cloud Dancing took Bess home, Bev and I went outside and sat down on the bridge that was over the small pond outside the house. We watched the stars for quiet a while, just enjoying each other’s company.

Screenshot-216

After that we headed inside and I started a fire in the fireplace for us, before Bev turned on some music for us to share a slow dance to.

Screenshot-218

We sat down on the love seat, watching the fire and cuddling. We didn’t really speak much during that time. Words weren’t really needed.

Eventually we headed upstairs to the honeymoon room and got changed for our night.

“Have I told you how much I love you and your new tattoo Mr. Gonzalo?” Bev asked me, laughing a bit.

I had gotten the tattoo recently. It was an eagle that was inspired by my rank in the army as a fighter pilot.

Screenshot-221

I let go of Bev and tickled her. Something I had found out about her, she’s pretty ticklish.

“You could show me how much you love me and my awesome tat, Mrs. Gonzalo.” I told her, chuckling.

Screenshot-222

Bev slapped me on the arm, giggling.

“Oh I plan too.” Bev told me.

Screenshot-225

We made our way over to the bed and cuddled a bit before sharing our first time, as husband and wife that is. To me it was just as special as our second time together, since we couldn’t really remember the first time.

Screenshot-227

We kept things going the next morning in the shower. It’s a good way to save water and soap after all.

Things were almost perfect. Nothing is perfect in life, but even though I was extremely happy I couldn’t help but think of the phone call I had gotten the day before the Wedding..

Screenshot-232

I hadn’t told anybody about it, since I wanted us to all focus on the wedding. It wasn’t necessarily a bad phone call, but I knew it would stir up a lot of feelings. But I would have to tell everybody soon.
